KC Kingdom is expanding at a rapid pace, and our goal is to be the best Kansas City area sports site on the internet. Aaron, Josh,  and I are pleased to announce we have added another new staff member, Leigh Oleszczak, to our staff roster. Leigh will be helping in our effort to expand our Chiefs and NFL Draft coverage. We are excited to have her writing for KC Kingdom.

Leigh has hit the ground running and has already published her first two articles with us. Check out her rundown of different options the Chiefs have in the 2014 NFL Draft and her take if Eric Decker could be a fit for the Chiefs at wide receiver.

Like all of the new writers to KC Kingdom, Tom took a few minutes to answer eight questions so we can get to know him just a little better. Here are his answers to those 8 questions:

How did you become a fan of the team you’re covering? I became a fan of the Chiefs when I was in middle school. One day I sat down and watched us play against the Redskins. We ended up winning by quite a bit and I thought it was the most exciting game ever. After that, I became a diehard Chiefs fan and am still one to this day… even during seasons like 2012 where I would spend a lot of my free time crying.

Where did you grow up and where do you currently live? I grew up in Kansas City and still reside here. I lived in Warrensburg for four years while I attended college, but other than that KC has always been my home.

What is your college/educational background? I graduated from the University of Central Missouri in May 2013 with a bachelor of science in Broadcast Media and a minor in Public Relations. Go Mules!

What do you do for a living? I work for Wilks Broadcasting in Kansas City. Radio has always been my passion and I am fortunate to have a job in the industry. I worked at the on-campus station at UCM throughout my four years of college and knew it was the right field for me.

What is your family situation (wife, kids, etc.)? Single life. *Cue Beyonce song*

What do you like to do for fun (sports related or otherwise)? My hobbies consist of music, sports, and writing. I’m in the process of getting a DJing company together with a friend of mine. I also really enjoy writing! Not just sports either, I’ve written a few silly sitcoms and a pretty horrible movie. To be fair, I never said I was a GOOD writer.

What is your favorite sports moment or memory? Oh man, that’s a tough one. I’m also a huge New Orleans Saints fan so watching them pull off that onside kick in the Super Bowl a few years ago was an awesome moment! I also happened to be at that Nebraska Cornhuskers football game when the Huskers won off of that crazy Hail Mary at the end. It was my first Huskers game too! But if we’re talking favorite Chiefs memory, it’d be when we played the Chargers on Monday Night Football on Halloween. It looked like the Chargers were going to win, but Philip Rivers fumbled the snap and Kansas City won! I laughed for days. Years, actually.

What are your least favorite team(s) and why? This could take awhile. In football, I don’t like the Broncos, Chargers, Raiders, Falcons, Panthers, Bucs, Cowboys, Bills, or Rams. The first three because they’re in the Chiefs’ division, the next three because they’re in the Saints’ division. I don’t like the Cowboys because I think Tony Romo is overrated. The Bills are a random team that I’ve just never liked. I dislike the Rams because I’m not a fan of any St. Louis teams. So you can add any other St. Louis team to my list too. Whew! That was a long answer. Probably doesn’t make me look very nice, does it? I promise I’m a lovely person. 🙂
