The LA Galaxy are currently carrying a 25 game home unbeaten streak that includes their win over the New England Revolution in the 2014 MLS Cup final. Sporting KC has a history of playing spoiler when on the road. This year they handed new expansion side New York City FC their first ever loss at their home stadium.
Sporting KC will be looking to extend their current unbeaten streak to five games after putting together wins against New York City FC and the Philadelphia Union, and draws against the Portland Timbers and last week against Real Salt Lake.
The LA Galaxy look to have the most momentum as they were able to beat the Seattle Sounders last week with a 1-0 final.
Sporting KC are currently fifth in the Western Conference standings with nine points in six games played. The LA Galaxy are sitting at seventh with eight points in six games played. While there is still a lot of games left to be played, Sporting KC will want to capture at least a point on the road against an LA Galaxy team that will likely make the playoffs.
Both teams are currently facing some injury issues. Sporting KC lost three team MLS Team of the Week defender Ike Opara to a ruptured Achilles last week against Real Salt Lake. Sporting KC will also be without Chance Myers due to him still trying to battle back from his 2014 season ending injury, and Seth Sinovic is still trying to recover from a groin strain.

LA Galaxy’s Robbie Keane is questionable for the game with a groin injury of his own. If Keane misses the game it would go a long way to help a depleted Sporting KC defense.
The Sporting KC defense will be even more thin because of the absence of Erik Palmer-Brown who was called up to join the United States Men’s National Team U-20 squad for training camp. Palmer-Brown will be unavailable for the game Saturday against the LA Galaxy and the following game next week against the Houston Dynamo.
Sporting KC did catch a break on defense because despite Matt Besler being called up by the United States Men’s National Team senior squad for their mid-week friendly against Mexico, he did not play in the game and will be available against the LA Galaxy.
