KC Chiefs Receive Four Compensatory Draft Picks
According to Adam Teicher of KansasCity.com the KC Chiefs have received four compensatory picks from the NFL for losing free agents. The four picks are one third round pick, two fifth round picks, and one sixth round pick.
With the four compensatory picks, the KC Chiefs now have ten draft picks in the 2015 NFL Draft. They traded their own fifth round draft pick to the New Orleans Saints for guard Ben Grubbs. The KC Chiefs were not awarded compensatory picks for the losses of Kendrick Lewis and Akeem Jordan due to the fact that they already hit their four pick limit.

The KC Chiefs have positioned themselves well to draft the best player available in the draft instead of reaching for need as they have had to do in the past. With ten picks in the draft the Chiefs should be able to improve their depth, and expand on an already young corp of players.
The KC Chiefs have brought in wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, guard Ben Grubbs, guard Paul Fanaika, and safety Tyvon Branch. Along with all the new faces, the Chiefs have managed to retain linebacker Justin Houston by way of franchise tag, and signing safety Ron Parker to a new contract.
The KC Chiefs were also fortunate that Tamba Hali and Mike DeVito agreed to renegotiate their contracts taking a pay cut to reduce their cap hit on the Chiefs.
The KC Chiefs have also lost a couple quality players that have played a big part for them in previous seasons. They released wide receiver Dwayne Bowe after signing Maclin. Bowe has since signed with the Cleveland Browns. Center Rodney Hudson, who was the Chiefs best offensive lineman in 2014, walked away from the team into free agency and signed with the AFC West division rival Oakland Raiders.
After being thin on draft picks in previous seasons, partly due to the Alex Smith trade in which the KC Chiefs sent to second round picks to the San Fransisco 49ers for him, the Chiefs are finally in position to bolster their team with young talent.

This will be an important year for Chiefs general manager John Dorsey because the Chiefs are likely one good draft class away from being a real threat in the playoffs and possibly even the Super Bowl.
The 2015 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 30th and ends on Saturday, May 2nd. The KC Chiefs will need to free up some more cap before the draft takes place so they have room for their rookie contracts as KC Kingdom writer Collin Stirling expanded on. Don’t be surprised if the Chiefs trade some picks either before the draft or during the draft to move up.
