Kurt Austin of SportingKC.com reached Jacob Peterson for comment on signing with Sporting KC.
"“I’m very happy to have re-signed with an organization as good as Sporting Kansas City. There was never really any other place that I wanted to go in this offseason so I’m glad that we could get a deal worked out. It’s also exciting to see some of the moves that have been made, most recently with bringing Roger (Espinoza) back. It shows the ambition of the club and it is definitely a place that I am happy to remain a part of moving forward.”"
Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes also commented on the signing.
"“Jacob Peterson is a player we feel fits very well for us on the field and within the culture of our club. We are thrilled to re-sign him and are looking forward to the start of pre-season later this month.”"
After being exposed to depth issues last season, the only right move for Sporting KC was to bring Peterson back. Peterson was able to fill in at multiple positions for Sporting KC last season including Forward, Midfield, and Full Back. A player with the stamina, relentless pace, and position flexibility that Peterson has fits perfectly in the system that Vermes likes to run. Sporting KC look about ready to compete following the Roger Espinoza signing yesterday and the Jacob Peterson signing today.
