The Kansas City Chiefs need help along the offensive line, mostly at the offensive guard position. Could this be an area they choose to address in the 2016 NFL Draft?

It’s been no secret over the past few seasons that the KC Chiefs have one of the worst offensive lines in all of the National Football League. While the line looked a little bit better in 2015, the guard position is one that the Chiefs could certainly use an upgrade at.

Could Vadal Alexander hear his name called by Kansas City in the second round of the draft?

Alexander, a four-year starter at LSU, played over 700 snaps during his time with the Tigers. He also was named First-Team All-SEC. He fits the mold for what the Chiefs are looking for and likely could be named as a starter right off the bat.

Alexander is listed as an offensive guard, but he spent time at right tackle as well while at LSU. His versatility only adds to what he could bring to Kansas City, and he’s definitely someone that the Chiefs should invest some interest in.

Now obviously I’m not the one calling the shots for the KC Chiefs, but if I was, Vadal Alexander would be who I’d want to see the team take in the second round. He fits an area of need and easily could compete for a starting job in training camp. What’s not to love about that?

Alexander spent time at left guard for two seasons, he then jumped to right tackle last season. While the Chiefs just acquired Mitchell Schwartz in free agency, the left guard spot is wide open now with Ben Grubbs being let go this past offseason.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com knocks Alexander a bit, saying he’s “not athletic” enough to play tackle in the NFL, but the Chiefs would likely stick him at one of the guard spots. He has the size of an offensive lineman and proved that he’s a reliable guy, starting for four years and always being open to play where needed.

The Chiefs’ for sure starters along the line as of now are Eric Fisher at left tackle, Mitch Morse at center, and Schwartz at right tackle. The two guard spots are up for grabs though, and that would be a great spot for Vadal Alexander to be in, coming into camp this summer.

This seems to be a no-brainer pick, but we’ve seen in the past how John Dorsey likes to go for the head scratching picks early on.
