KC Chiefs News: Who Will The Chiefs Draft In Round One

facebooktwitterreddit

KC Chiefs news is all about the 2016 NFL Draft, in which the Kansas City Chiefs hold the 28th overall pick. The team could go in a ton of different directions with this pick, which makes it even more interesting.

Draft coverage is all the rage these days in the National Football League, and with the draft only being three weekends away, why shouldn’t it be?

The Chiefs need to address some positions in the first two rounds of the draft, but in what direction will they ultimately decide to go in? Will they add another weapon for Alex Smith on offense by going with a wide receiver? Will they try and give Smith more protection up front by selecting an offensive guard?

What about on defense? The Chiefs need help in the secondary. Could they use their first round pick on a cornerback or a safety?

The answer to all of these questions will be answered in just three weeks, but at this moment, we have no idea what John Dorsey and the KC Chiefs are thinking as far as the draft goes.

Since Dorsey arrived to Kansas City in 2013, the Chiefs have selected two defensive players in the first round and one offensive player. The offensive player was Eric Fisher, who the team drafted number one overall in 2013 (Dorsey’s first draft with the Chiefs). The defensive players were Dee Ford (23rd overall in 2014) and Marcus Peters (18th overall in 2015).

If history tells us anything with Dorsey, it’s that he likes to keep his defense young and strong. With that said, I would predict Kansas City to go with some type of defensive player, whether it’s a secondary guy or maybe another defensive end or even another linebacker.

The last article listed is especially interesting, as Massey lists quarterback Paxton Lynch as an option for Kansas City in the first round. Sure, almost anyone can be an option, but would taking a quarterback in the first round make sense for the Chiefs?
