The KC Chiefs have done a lot of good things to put themselves in a position to win next season. Now they can further a good off-season by really creating some good depth.

Yes, the Chiefs look to be in a position to contend for the division this year. They would do well not to fall into a 1-5 hole like they dug for themselves last year. It did get to a point entering the playoffs in which no team in the NFL wanted to face the Chiefs.

They’ll need to find a way to overcome the potential loss of Justin Houston. With any luck, and a speedy recovery, Houston will be able to play this season. If he misses a significant portion of time, the Chiefs are going to find themselves struggling to get to the passer. Even if he’s not making the sacks, he’s earning double teams that opens up someone else.

The Chiefs have the tools to be successful. They need to continue doing what they do best. Manage the game from start to finish by punishing defenders on the ground. They need to swarm on defense and not make mistakes on offense. It wouldn’t hurt if they spent some extra time working on two-minute drills this off-season either.

The Kansas City Chiefs still have some work to do this off-season but not nearly as much as in years past. If they continue to spend wisely in free agency, and find some good picks in the draft, they should put out one of the most complete teams they’ve had in a long time.
