The Kansas City Chiefs are doing all they can to provide weapons for Alex Smith and the offense. Notre Dame product Will Fuller could be the deep threat that the Chiefs are looking for.

The KC Chiefs hold the 28th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and really only have a few areas of need on the roster. Wide receiver is one of those areas, and the Chiefs have some decent options in this draft.

One of the best options available this year is Notre Dame’s Will Fuller.

According to NFL.com, Fuller is a playmaker that is able to make defenses focus on him.  He is a deep threat monster who is able to track the ball and win the jump-ball when its called for.

Fuller has shown that he has exceptional acceleration and awareness skills.  He can thrive in press coverage when he is able to shake the cornerback and get the separation that is needed.

Will Fuller shows the skills of a very good wide receiver and has been compared to Ted Ginn Jr and DeSean Jackson which is a good company to be in.

According to CBSSports.com, one issue is that he is a very lean wide receiver. He is a lean muscled receiver that can easily be pushed off of his routes. He has smaller hands than usual, which makes him more of a body catching receiver and can make contesting for a ball over the middle a difficult task.

Will Fuller also has shown that he plays consistent week to week and plays at a very high level on all stages. In his 2015 season, he had 62 receptions for 1,262 yards and 14 touchdowns and he was the Notre Dame MVP.

Will Fuller shows a lot of promise, but he will need some time to adjust to the speed of the NFL He may also have a hard time thriving among the larger cornerbacks that are seen in the league.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in need of weapons for quarterback Alex Smith, as shown with signing of former Raider Rod Streater. The signing of Streater could turn out as a steal if he can play to his potential, but the team needs another option. Will Fuller is a terrific option for this team and provides a lot of upside.

Personally, Will Fuller would be a waste of a first round pick. If he is still on the board in the third or fourth round, I could see him in a red jersey in 2016.

The Chiefs have a number of options when it comes time to draft players this year. Because they were able to retain most of their key pieces, they don’t have a lot of holes to fill. That affords them the opportunity to draft not only players to impact their immediate needs, but allows them to create depth and long term success.

What do you think KC Chiefs’ fans? Would you want the KC Chiefs to draft Will Fuller? Why or why not?
