The Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line has been one of their weaker areas over the past few years. Could it be their top priority in the draft? If so, Ronnie Stanley might be on the Chiefs’ draft board.

Oh, the offensive line. One of the troubling areas for the KC Chiefs over the years.

With eight total picks in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Chiefs have an opportunity add depth to their offensive line. Last year, there was a game in which it almost got to the point of having to throw in a tight end or defensive player on the o-line because everyone else was injured.

The draft is the perfect time to stack up on offensive linemen, and the Chiefs could do so by taking Ronnie Stanley in the first round.

Stanley, a senior out of Notre Dame, is considered the second best tackle in this draft and the seventh best prospect overall. He very well could have been the first tackle selected in last year’s draft, but he opted to return to Notre Dame for his senior year.

What Stanley provides is a great ability for opening holes in the run game. Even better is that he has experience at both left tackle and at right tackle, which is fantastic news for the Chiefs.

Kansas City is still trying to figure out what to do with their former number one overall pick Eric Fisher. He played at left tackle last year, but could a move back to right tackle be in the coming future?

Now the chances of Kansas City drafting Stanley are pretty low. He’s projected to go in the top ten picks and both analysts on CBS Sports have him going number six overall to the Baltimore Ravens.

So, yes, while it’d be great to have Ronnie Stanley on the line blocking for Alex Smith, it probably isn’t going to happen unless they trade up to draft him, or if he absolutely tanks after the combine.

Stanley’s size and athletic ability are why he’s listed near the top of draft boards, but the guys over at CBS Sports seem to think that he will struggle mightily at the beginning of his career. Being a rookie tackle isn’t easy and the team who selects him will need to be patient with him (much like Kansas City has done with Fisher).

If Stanley is still hanging around at pick 28, he could end up being either a huge steal or could be yet another disappointment along the Chiefs’ offensive line.
