2011
Jacorey Shepherd began his career at Kansas as a Wide Receiver and played the entire 2011 season there. He was a fairly productive rookie with 15 Receptions, 252 Yards, 16.8 Average, and three Touchdowns.
Most of Shepherd’s production came in the game against McNeese St. where he recorded three Receptions, 107 Yards, and two Touchdowns. His 107 yards marked the first time a Jayhawk reached the 100 receiving yards mark since 1997.
2012
Following the 2011 season, Shepherd made the transition from Wide Receiver to Defensive Back. The Jayhawks didn’t get an immediate return on their investment in Shepherd as a Defensive Back though.
He managed 13 Tackles, two Assists, two Passes Defended, and no interceptions in eight games.
2013
Shepherd entered his 2013 Junior season with a year of playing at Defensive Back under his belt, and he showed a lot of improvement compared to his 2012 form.
He had 28 Tackles, 17 Assists (Career High), one Sack, 13 Passes Defended, one Forced Fumble (Career High), two Interceptions, and one Touchdown.
He also featured as a Kickoff Return man in 2013, and had 24 Returns, 547 Yards, 22.8 Average (Career High), and one Touchdown (Career High).
He finished 2013 3rd in the Big 12 in Kickoff Return yards, 1st in the Big 12 in Kickoff Return Touchdowns, 3rd in the Big 12 in Interception Return Touchdowns, and 2nd in the Big 12 in Passes Defended.

The stage was set for Shepherd to have a huge 2014 Senior season, and while he didn’t have as big of a season statistically as he did in 2013, he was still able to put together a solid 2014 campaign.
He finished with 23 Tackles, seven Assists, 19 Passed Defended (Career High), and three Interceptions (Career High) at corner.
He also once again played a big part on special teams as the Kickoff return man. He had 37 Returns (Career High), 773 Yards (Career High), 20.9 Average, and no Touchdowns.
He ranked 1st in Kickoff Returns in the Big 12, 1st in Kickoff Return Yards in the Big 12, 6th in Kickoff Yards per Return in the Big 12, and 1st in the Big 12 in Passes Defended.
JaCorey Shepherd is currently listed as the 155th best overall Prospect, 21st at Cornerback, and projected as a 4th-5th round draft pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Shepherd is best as a nickle corner, and will need to excel on special teams to make a statement on an NFL team. He is 5ft 11 inches tall, which is a little shorter than the preferred size of a cornerback in the NFL. There are certainly shorter cornerback’s who have found success in the NFL.
Watch for Shepherd’s name to be called when the 2015 NFL Draft takes place on April 30th – May 3rd.
