2015 NFL Draft: Entire First Round Mock Draft

facebooktwitterreddit

The 2015 NFL Draft is approaching in May and with that now comes the fun mock drafts that everyone cooks up on the internet. I used Fanspeak’s On the Clock feature on their website to do a first round mock draft for all 32 teams in the National Football League.

Basically how Fanspeak’s mock draft works is that I can pick one team to select for and it automatically selects for the other 31 teams in the league. I chose to draft as the Kansas City Chiefs and was content with who I was able to grab with the 17th overall pick.

Here are the results:

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jameis Winston, Quarterback (Florida State)
  2. Tennessee Titans – Shaq Thompson, Outside Linebacker (Washington)
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars – Leonard Williams, Defensive Tackle (USC)
  4. Oakland Raiders – Shane Ray, Defensive End (Missouri)
  5. Washington Redskins – Vic Beasley, Outside Linebacker (Clemson)
  6. New York Jets – Andrus Peat, Offensive Tackle (Stanford)
  7. Chicago Bears – Benardrick McKinney, Inside Linebacker (Mississippi State)
  8. Atlanta Falcons – Landon Collins, Safety (Alabama)
  9. New York Giants – Brandon Scherff, Offensive Tackle (Iowa)
  10. St. Louis Rams – Amari Cooper, Wide Receiver (Alabama)
  11. Minnesota Vikings – Jaelen Strong, Wide Receiver (Arizona State)
  12. Cleveland Browns – Mario Edwards, Jr., Defensive End (Florida State)
  13. New Orleans Saints La’el Collins, Offensive Tackle (LSU)
  14. Miami Dolphins – A.J. Cann, Guard (South Carolina)
  15. San Francisco 49ers – P.J. Williams, Cornerback (Florida State)
  16. Houston Texans – Dante Fowler Jr., Defensive End (Florida)
  17. Kansas City Chiefs – Kevin White, Wide Receiver (West Virginia)
  18. San Diego Chargers – T.J. Clemmings, Offensive Tackle (Pittsburgh)
  19. Cleveland Browns – Ereck Flowers, Offensive Tackle (Miami)
  20. Philadelphia Eagles – Alvin Dupree, Defensive End (Kentucky)
  21. Cincinnati Bengals – Trae Waynes, Cornerback (Michigan State)
  22. Pittsburgh Steelers – DeVante Parker, Wide Receiver (Louisville)
  23. Detroit Lions – Marcus Peters, Cornerback (Washington)
  24. Arizona Cardinals – Randy Gregory, Defensive End (Nebraska)
  25. Carolina Panthers – Ty Sambrailo, Offensive Tackle (Colorado State)
  26. Baltimore Ravens – Devin Funchess, Tight End (Michigan)
  27. Dallas Cowboys – Carl Davis, Defensive Tackle (Iowa)
  28. Denver Broncos – Eddie Goldman, Defensive Tackle (Florida State)
  29. Indianapolis Colts – Arik Armstead, Defensive Tackle (Oregon)
  30. Green Bay Packers – Ellis McCarthy, Defensive Tackle (UCLA)
  31. New England Patriots – Melvin Gordon, Running Back (Wisconsin)
  32. Seattle Seahawks – Maxx Williams, Tight End (Minnesota)

With the 17th overall pick, the Kansas City Chiefs (also known as me) selected Kevin White, a wide receiver out of West Virginia. I had this same selection the last time I did a one round mock draft. Honestly, my first choice would have been Jaelen Strong, but as you can see, the Minnesota Vikings were able to scoop Strong up with the 11th overall pick.

It came down to whether I wanted Kevin White, DeVante Parker, or an offensive lineman like Ereck Flowers or T.J. Clemmings. I chose White, who has been linked with the Chiefs in numerous mock drafts over the past few weeks.

As for the rest of the draft, obviously the last four picks could be swapped around since we don’t know the results of Sunday’s games yet. Regardless of that though, there were some interesting tidbits throughout this mock draft.

Jameis Winston now seems to be the most sought after quarterback rather than Marcus Mariota, who once was projected to go first overall. The mock draft predicted Tampa Bay would grab the former Seminole to be the face of their franchise. Mariota isn’t even projected to go in the first round according to this mock draft.

It was also strange to me that Randy Gregory didn’t go until pick 24. I definitely don’t see that happening, as Gregory seems to be one of the highest defensive prospects available in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Also, I don’t see Amari Cooper falling to the 10th pick. If he’s still on the board when the Raiders go to draft with the fourth overall pick, he’ll be going to Oakland more than likely. Not giving Derek Carr a first round wide receiver after his solid rookie year would just be cruel to the former Fresno State quarterback.

Obviously this is just a mock draft and a lot will be different when the real thing comes in May, but it’s still fun doing these and seeing what scenarios could go down. Keep in mind teams can trade during the draft, which keeps things interesting.

Which of these picks do you strongly agree or disagree with?
