Josh Jackson Rumors: Five-Star Recruit Looking at Kansas Jayhawks

facebooktwitterreddit

Five-star prospect Josh Jackson still has the Kansas Jayhawks high on his list for schools to attend in 2016-2017.

Josh Jackson is the third overall ranked prospect in the 2016 NCAA basketball draft class according to ESPN and has the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team as one of his four favorite programs to join next fall.

The five-star small forward could be a terrific recruiting coup for Bill Self if the coach can convince the youngster to pick the Kansas Jayhawks.

He recently told ScoutHoops.com that he was a big fan of  Self and his style of play that he implements at Kansas:

"“They are really known for having a great history,” Jackson said. “I watch Kansas year in and year out. Coach Self, I think he’s a good coach and I just love what he does with his guys year in and year out. He’s always helping guys get into the league. Putting them to the best position possible for them to succeed. I just like their style of play. They are a real fast-paced team and I feel like that’s where I’m at my best.”"

This is huge news and very good news for the Jayhawks and their fans as Jackson should be one of the most talented high school basketball players in the country this upcoming season.

From what I’ve seen of him, Jackson is a 6-foot-7 small forward that is supremely athletic, can get to the rim with ease, and has a very competitive motor that won’t let him quit. He seems to have the perfect personality for the college basketball game in the Big 12 Conference.

If the ESPN scouting report is correct, there is good reason for the Jayhawks to pursue Josh Jackson.

"“Jackson is a tough and athletic forward that is a fearless competitor. He has established himself as a tenacious rebounder and he plays with a never ending motor. Comfortable and confident in both a fast paced game or a grind it out affair…”"

He is considered one of the top candidates to be the top overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by NBA Draft Room. He would be the best recruit to land in Lawrence with Bill Self and the Jayhawks since Andrew Wiggins back in 2013.

Jackson is scheduled to meet with Kansas in October, as well as Arizona and possibly others. Michigan State, UCLA, and Maryland are the schools that Jackson has visited thus far, and he seems to be far away from making a decision at this point.

The Kansas Jayhawks have had Jackson on their radar for awhile now.

Connor Muldowney of Spartan Avenue thinks Michigan State has the inside track for Jackson’s services.

If Bill Self and the Kansas coaching staff can indeed land Josh Jackson, it would be huge to their future and the next few seasons including attracting more top recruits in future seasons.

Get ready for some good seasons from the Jayhawks over the next couple seasons.
