Former KC Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has agreed to sign with the Cleveland Browns according to Ian Rapaport of NFL.com.

Dwayne Bowe was drafted with the 23rd pick in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the KC Chiefs out of LSU. He was regarded as one of the best receivers in the draft and throughout his career he rarely disappointed.

Bowe scored his first professional touchdown as a member of the KC Chiefs on September 16th, 2007 against the Chicago Bears on a pass from then Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard. Bowe’s last touchdown with the Chiefs came on January 4th, 2014 in the Chiefs Wild Card match-up against the Indianapolis Colts on a pass from quarterback Alex Smith.

Dwayne Bowe finished the 2014 season with 60 receptions, 754 yards, and zero touchdowns in a season where no Chiefs wide receiver would score a touchdown. The 2014 season was a disappointing one for Bowe, and his career as a KC Chief would end when the Chiefs released him on March 12th, 2015.

Bowe had the worst two seasons of his career in his two years under head coach Andy Reid in 2013 and 2014 despite having arguably the best quarterback of his career throwing to him in Alex Smith. Bowe never seemed to fit the scheme that Reid likes to run and was best remembered as a blocker under Reid rather than a receiver.

Bowe will be remembered as a team player for the Chiefs at times, and a frustrating player at other times. Bowe was known for making some fantastic circus catches that would dazzle the crowd, and then dropping crucial passes that would hit him in the hands.

Bowe will also be remembered for some of the trouble he got into during his career. After signing a new five-year contract with the KC Chiefs in 2013 Bowe was suspended for one game by the NFL for his arrest for possession of a controlled substance. Bowe was also suspended four games in 2009 for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

The KC Chiefs replaced Bowe with former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Maclin is a younger replacement to Bowe, and he is also a much better scheme fit. Maclin was drafted in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft by Andy Reid when he was the head coach of the Eagles.

KC Chiefs fans are split on their feelings on Dwayne Bowe and whether he belongs in the KC Chiefs Hall of Fame, but most fans appreciate his eight years of putting on the “Bowe Show” in Kansas City.
