Travis Kelce is emphatic that he doesn't have any plans to retire soon. He wants to play until the wheels fall off and the Chiefs seem content to help him do that.

He's got a fresh new contract to stay in Kansas City and while that puts a theoretical timeline on his retirement, Kelce has his own idea of when he'll call it quits.

On the latest episode of his widely popular New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, Travis said he'll play as long as he still feels like he can produce at a high level. Once his effectiveness wanes, it'll be time.

Travis Kelce Reveals How He'll Know When to Retire

"I love playing this game at the highest possible level," the future Hall of Fame tight end explained. "I love playing it at a level where I know I can have a bunch of success. I know I can still go out there and 'Moss' a dude in the end zone. I know I can go out there, catch a flat route and turn it into a 15 to 20-yard game and make a few guys miss."

However, Kelce is aware it won't last forever. "The moment that I can't do that, I think that's when I'm just going to be like, 'what am I doing this for?'," he continued. "I get excitement out of catching a ball, splitting a bunch of defenders, and getting a huge first down when...nobody expected me to do it. Or I scored a huge touchdown a playoff game in the fourth quarter when the team needed it the most."

Kelce acknowledged that once he can't reach those same heights, "that's probably when I'm going to call it quits."

It was a thoughtful answer from one of the most successful players of this generation. Considering he was his typical dominant self in the playoffs, it looks like Kelce will be effective at least for the near future. Time comes for us all, though I'm optimistic there's plenty left in the tank for Kelce.
