Travis Kelce has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs, making him the NFL's highest-paid tight end while putting any retirement concerns to rest.

While some thought Kelce could retire after this season given the off-field deals he's lined up, Kelce is now committed to the organization for two more years, keeping the most prolific pass-catching duo together for the near future.

After Brett Veach found a potential long-term successor in the NFL Draft, he's ensured that Kelce will stick around as the Chiefs extend their incredible dynasty.

Chiefs News: Travis Kelce Signs Two-Year Contract Extension

This is surprising news but fantastic to hear for Chiefs fans. Kelce has long deserved this kind of payday and now he'll be the NFL's highest-paid tight end.

Despite losing his consecutive 1,000-yard streak in the season's final week in 2023, the three-time Super Bowl champion was better than ever in the playoffs. Kelce had 32 catches for 355 yards and three TDs in the postseason, serving as Patrick Mahomes' top receiving threat as the Chiefs were the last team standing once again.

Kelce will turn 35 this October, so this deal will keep him on the field at least through his age-36 season. We'll see if he retires at that point, but it's relieving for Chiefs Kingdom that we won't spend this entire season wondering if it's Kelce's last.

No matter how long Kelce is in Kansas City, he'll forever be remembered as one of the greatest athletes the city has ever seen. This is a great day for Kelce, yet somehow an even better one for Chiefs fans everywhere.
