With trade rumors dominating Chiefs conversations ahead of Week 5 against the Saints, one former player could be available that hasn't yet been floated as an option.

Rams WR Demarcus Robinson has seemingly fell behind Tutu Atwell and Jordan Whittington in Los Angeles' pecking order, to say nothing of injured stars Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. He's on a cheap, expiring contract and might be the ideal player for Kansas City to reunite with.

Unlike some of the other names floated as options, Robinson knows the system and is familiar with Patrick Mahomes. That goes a long way, especially considering the low cost it'd take to acquire him.

Chiefs Reunite With WR Demarcus Robinson in Projected Trade

There haven't been any reports tying Robinson back to the Chiefs, though Andy Reid's comments that he prefers players who are familiar with the system in a theoretical trade makes him a potential option.

In six years with the Chiefs, Robinson caught 145 passes for 1,679 yards and 14 TDs. He's remained a consistent producer with the Rams but has only nine catches on the young season. Robinson could immediately step in and provide value to the depleted Kansas City receiver room, giving him another chance at a Super Bowl ring with the team who drafted him.

From Los Angeles' perspective, they pick up a round of draft value and get to see if Sean McVay can help Skyy Moore deliver on the promise he showed before being drafted. Moore doesn't have a future in Kansas City, so a change of scenery could be beneficial for all parties.

Since Robinson is on an expiring contract, the Rams have the benefit of getting an extra year of control with Moore too. The Chiefs need Robinson while the Rams need more developmental players and draft capital.

If Kansas City doesn't swing for the fences on a big-name wideout, this is the exact kind of trade that makes sense for both sides.
