The Chiefs got a piece of good injury news on Monday, as WR Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown attended practice for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury in the first preseason game.

After the surprising reunion with JuJu Smith-Schuster on Monday morning, Kansas City's wideout room is suddenly coming together. Brown didn't participate in practice, merely watching on the sidelines, yet this still represents a big step in the right direction for one of the team's biggest playmakers.

He likely still won't play for at least the first week of the regular season, possibly longer, though his attendance at practice is a welcome sign nonetheless.

Chiefs Get Big Hollywood Brown Injury Update at Monday's Practice

With roster cutdown day coming Tuesday and numerous players likely on their way off the team, Brown's status remains one of the biggest question marks.

Now that Smith-Schuster is back, guys like Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, Justyn Ross, and Nikko Remigio are potential cut candidates. There were murmors that Brown could be played on injured reserve to start the 2024 season, creating an additional roster spot, but Monday's revelation indicates that likely won't happen.

Instead, Brown hopes to make his Chiefs debut in either Week 2 against the Bengals or Week 3 against the Falcons. Should he suffer a setback, a Week 4 divisional matchup with the rebuilt Chargers remains a possibility.

By any measure, Brown looks to be on his way back. He's dealt with lingering injuries throughout his career, though is only two years removed from a 1,000-yard season with the Ravens. Since he's only on a one-year deal, Brown hopes to prove his value and earn a major payday this offseason.

Here's hoping Monday's news is a sign of positive updates to come.
