The Chiefs have had many unsung heroes over the last several years, from Daniel Sorenson to Deon Bush and beyond, though several players are going under the radar heading into the 2024 season.

Kansas City has one of the NFL's best rosters and is favored to win their third straight Super Bowl. That level of success makes it difficult for players to go overlooked, though there are exceptions. Given Brett Veach's success in the draft, some young guys have to step up.

We know all about Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones' importance to this team, so let's instead look at four underrated Chiefs going into the year.

4 Underrated Chiefs Heading Into 2024

1. Mike Danna - DE

Mike Danna enjoyed a career-best season in 2023-24, earning a three-year extension for his efforts. He actually recorded the second-highest snap percentage (68.47%) of any defensive lineman, behind only George Karlaftis and playing more total snaps than even Chris Jones.

He was a starter while Charles Omenihu was suspended, recording 5.5 sacks over the first eight weeks of the season. Originally a fifth-round pick in 2020, Danna has become one of the Chiefs' most dependable players on the line and a valuable part of the defense.

As Omenihu works his way back from a torn ACL, Danna will once again play a big role early in the season.

Considering the disrespectful rankings the Chiefs' line has received from some in the media, it's clear Danna is underrated. Chris Jones and George Karlaftis form an incredible one-two punch, though Danna is the forgotten factor who pushes this position group to a new level.

Now that Danna earned his extension, he should receive more recognition. If he gets off to the kind of hot start he did last year, Kansas City's defense won't miss a beat while Omenihu recovers.
