The Kansas City Chiefs will begin their quest for a third consecutive Super Bowl title when the 2024 NFL season begins next week. Head coach Andy Reid's lineup became clearer following the Aug. 27 53-man roster deadline, meaning Chiefs fans now know who'll they'll be rooting for in the upcoming Week 1 showdown with the Baltimore Ravens.

But just because 53 players saw their dreams realized last week doesn't mean that they'll be in Kansas City forever. After all, certain Chiefs individuals'' outlook isn't exactly secure for several reasons — whether that's because their play has been declining or due to their being in a contract year.

Regardless, these 10 Chiefs could be entering their final season with the franchise.

1. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB

It's hard to imagine that it's already been over four years since the Chiefs used the 2020 draft's No. 32 selection on Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The Baton Rouge, LA native was coming off a terrific run with LSU that saw him amass over 2,600 scrimmage yards with 24 touchdowns across his final two seasons with the Tigers.

Edwards-Helaire began his NFL career decently, but things have fallen off since then. The 25-year-old's play has declined in each passing season, culminating in 2023 with career lows when it came to rushing yards (223), rushing touchdowns (1), and yards per carry (3.2).

In other words, it isn't surprising that fellow Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco has run away with the No. 1 rusher job in the last two seasons. Edwards-Helaire simply hasn't shown that game-changing potential he demonstrated while in college, meaning he'll likely be stuck in a backup role for the duration of the 2024 campaign.

Tantalizing fullback Carson Steele's arrival to town means that Edwards-Helaire could potentially see even fewer carries as the season goes on. Considering how he's a free agent in March, it's clear that he must capitalize on every opportunity or risk playing elsewhere in 2025.
