Chiefs Longshot's Mom Posts Touching Message After He Makes 53-Man Roster
Whenever a player succeeds in professional sports, an emphasis is placed on their individual efforts. It can be easy to forget that they weren't the only person involved in their journey. Their family and friends had to make sacrifices as well — whether it was waking up early for practices or missing important events — which makes the eventual success that much sweeter.
Several Kansas City Chiefs players' NFL dreams became real on Tuesday following this year's initial 53-man roster deadline. Several surprise players cracked head coach Andy Reid's roster, including undrafted rookie fullback Carson Steele.
After Steele exceeded all expectations this offseason, his mother has made her pride abundantly clear.
Chiefs News: Carson Steele's Mom Posts Touching Message
Angela — Steele's mom — took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to share a touching message about her son. She made sure to emphasize just how much his family is proud of "making your dreams come true" and that he should "enjoy every second of your NFL career."
Making the NFL as a drafted player is already an accomplishment, however, achieving that dream as an undrafted rookie is even more impressive. So yeah, Steele's mom has every right to voice her pride as loud as she wants.
Steele, 21, garnered the Chiefs' attention after being unselected at the 2024 NFL Draft. The former All-MAC rusher had a solid three-season career split between Ball State and UCLA, culminating in 3,780 scrimmage yards and 30 touchdowns on 706 total opportunities (648 carries, 58 receptions).
After impressing head coach Andy Reid's staff throughout training camp, the Chiefs awarded Steele with a decent number of preseason opportunities. The Greenwood, IN native capitalized on his chances more often than not, turning 11 carries into 87 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and six first downs.
With Patrick Mahomes leading the Chiefs' attack, the sky could be the limit for Steele as a rookie. While Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire as the top two backfield options at the moment, maintaining his training camp momentum should see the rookie FB remain in the mix for touches.
Kansas City is consistently in the Super Bowl mix, meaning Mama Steele could have a lot more to be proud of by the time the 2024 season ends. After all, the Chiefs are heading into the new campaign as DraftKings Sportsbook's +500 favorite to win their third consecutive Lombardi Trophy next February.
