Three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes had a surprise new ailment pop up on Wednesday's injury report, indicating he's dealing with both ankle and hip issues.

The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to battle the Buffalo Bills in a pivotal showdown that's left Mahomes disrespected yet again, and it appears he's banged up after two difficult, physical matchups. Buffalo has injuries too, yet Mahomes is the sun around which the Chiefs orbit.

He was a full participant at practice. There's no concern about him suiting up on Sunday Night Football, though it's a situation to monitor nonetheless.

Patrick Mahomes Listed With New Hip Injury on Wednesday's Injury Report

Mahomes has had an interesting season by any measure. Kansas City is undefeated but most would agree it's been an underwhelming year by his standards. He sits with 12 TDs to nine interceptions with a penchant for always making the big play. Even still, his nagging injuries could pose a problem against Josh Allen.

The Chiefs' left tackle situation is turning into a legitimate concern though. If Kingsley Suamataia and Wanya Morris can't protect Mahomes, his chance of greater injury becomes more significant by the week.

In more encouraging news, both Isiah Pacheco and Charles Omenihu returned to practice and are nearing respective returns. Once the playoffs arrive, it looks like they'll be at full strength. Mahomes' health becomes the most important storyline moving forward. Losing to the Bills doesn't matter. Losing Mahomes does.

Andy Reid's plan needs to emphasize safety for his signal caller. The main focus for the rest of the regular season should be avoiding injuries, so we'll see how that plays out on Sunday.
