The Kansas City Chiefs continue to find ways to win as they improved to 9-0 for the season after an improbable win against the Denver Broncos in Week 10. Despite being the only undefeated team in the league, the Chiefs have a few problems they need to resolve.

The offense hasn't clicked the same way it has in previous years and Patrick Mahomes is having a down season. The shaky offensive line has been pointed to as a reason for some of these struggles.

These were further exacerbated on Sunday when starting left tackle Wanya Morris left the game with a knee injury and was replaced by rookie Kingsley Suamataia. As disappointing as Morris has been this season, Suamataia struggled even worse against the Broncos.

This started speculations about the Chiefs potentially signing former player and current free agent Donovan Smith. The 31-year-old offensive tackle who spent last season with the Chiefs is available and reportedly interested in a reunion.

Amid these rumors, Patrick Mahomes defended his left tackles on Wednesday. Per Nate Taylor of The Athletic, the Chiefs star took some of the blame and reiterated his belief in Morris and Suamataia.

Chiefs News: Patrick Mahomes Defends His Offensive Line Amid Donovan Smith Rumors

Mahomes has gotten sacked four times in each of the last two games. With 20 sacks in nine sacks, Mahomes is on pace for the most sacks in a season for his career. Morris currently has a 56.4 grade on PFF while Suamataia has one of the worst grades of his position with 36.8.

It is clear that either they need to play better, or the Chiefs have to make an upgrade there. Giving Mahomes such poor protection is not doing him justice, as the team is chasing a historic three-peat.

That is something GM Brett Veach needs to fix. Mahomes, for his part, is doing the right thing by not throwing his teammates under the bus.
