Training camps around the NFL are in full swing, and the Kansas City Chiefs aren't an exception. Head coach Andy Reid and his staff have been working the Chiefs' 90-man roster hard throughout the first wave of camp practices, leaving time to reveal just how much the Super Bowl 59 runners-up learned from their disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February.

As the current Chiefs grind it out at Missouri Western State University, some Kansas City fans are curious about what the franchise's former players are up to this summer. The grass isn't always greener on the other side after leaving a franchise, and one ex-Chiefs defender is learning that the hard way.

Ex-Chiefs S Justin Reid Likely Regrets Joining Saints as Training Camp Continues

Veteran safety Justin Reid was one of the several players who left Kansas City this offseason. After spending the last three seasons with the Chiefs, which includes two Super Bowl wins, the 28-year-old defensive back inked a three-year, $31.5 million contract with the New Orleans Saints in free agency.

As much as Chiefs fans wanted Reid to stay, the franchise's salary cap situation prevented a re-signing. The former Stanford Cardinal was hopeful that he could continue the success he experienced in Kansas City upon moving to the Big Easy; however, that's become more unlikely as the offseason has progressed.

Reid's decision to join the Saints quickly became a disaster once starting quarterback Derek Carr announced his NFL retirement in May. With Carr out of the picture, New Orleans is forced to hold a QB competition between Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler, and Jake Haener — none of which instill much confidence under center due to their unproven arms.

Unfortunately, the Saints' QB situation continues to worsen. According to ESPN's Katherine Terrell, neither Shough nor Rattler provided encouraging results while working with the first- and second-teams, respectively, during Thursday's practice.

"There were mistakes to go around, especially toward the end of practice, which saw two false starts with the second team and then another one with the third team a minute later," Terrell wrote.

Unless one of the Saints' QBs turns things around quickly, Reid might regret moving to New Orleans even sooner rather than later. Much like every Chief for most of the last decade, Reid had it easy with having Patrick Mahomes under center. Now that he's left Kansas City, the Prairieville, LA native is learning just how frustrating not having a quarterback named Mahomes can be.

For now, Chiefs fans will keep an eye on Reid to see how long it takes before he openly talks about missing KC.
