The clock is ticking before the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 on Feb. 9. It's the second championship matchup between these franchises in three years, and one question that a lot of fans are wondering is: who will be healthy enough to play in New Orleans?

After all, the NFL season is one of the most grueling schedules in sports, and it'd be more surprising if a player wasn't dealing with some kind of ailment at this point of the year. The Chiefs are also dealing with their fair share of injuries at the moment, leading to some light being shed on their injury situation on Wednesday.

Chiefs Reveal 1st Injury Report Before Super Bowl 59

The Chiefs didn't hold practice on Wednesday, but that didn't stop Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick from sharing the team's estimated injury report. The following five names are the only ones Derrick listed as having any sort of injury designation:

  • S Bryan Cook (quad)
  • RB Kareem Hunt (quad)
  • QB Patrick Mahomes (ankle)
  • OT Jawaan Taylor (knee)
  • CB Jaylen Watson (ankle)

Even though some Chiefs fans will be caught off guard seeing those names, Derrick doesn't seem to be worried. The quintet likely would've been full practice participants if there was a session on Wednesday, meaning their Super Bowl outlook is promising at the moment.

The biggest name on the list is Mahomes, who suffered a high-ankle sprain in December. Having said that, the three-time Super Bowl MVP has since appeared in each of the Chiefs' games aside from a meaningless Week 18 encounter with the Denver Broncos. It's hard to imagine him being inactive against the Eagles.

Taylor's knee issue has bothered him since last month, too. Also like Mahomes, he's played in every game aside from the regular-season finale. Even Watson has been healthy enough to power through the Chiefs' first two playoff outings after missing the majority of the campaign with a serious ankle issue.

Cook and Hunt's injuries are new, though, so they might be worth monitoring in the coming days. At the same time, Derrick deemed the duo's ailments as "nothing significant."

More will be revealed about the Chiefs' injury situation the closer we get to Super Bowl 59. Andy Reid & Co. will require the healthiest roster possible if they want to pull off the NFL's first-ever championship three-peat.

As it stands, the Chiefs are the projected 1.5-point favorites over the Eagles in the Super Bowl on FanDuel Sportsbook.
