XAVIER WILLIAMS

Now we’ll get to the defensive guys for this week’s edition of who to watch. With the Chiefs drafting Khalen Saunders in the third round of this year’s draft, Xavier Williams is on the hot seat as far as roster spots go.

More from KC Kingdom

Williams didn’t play great last year, which is a shame considering he’s a local guy and fans would like to see him do well. That being said, nothing is handed to anyone and if Williams wants to make the final 53-man roster, he’s going to have to show something in the final game of the preseason.

JORDAN LUCAS

The safety position is an interesting one for the KC Chiefs, who have the well-known names like Tyrann Mathieu and rookie Juan Thornhill, but from there it’s a pretty deep drop-off. Jordan Lucas came out of nowhere last year and actually played decently, but with Armani Watts no longer injured, Lucas is going to have to step up his game. Hopefully he has a few key plays on Thursday night.

CONCLUSION

The KC Chiefs might be wrapping up their preseason slate, but the fun is only just beginning once the final whistle sounds on Thursday evening. From there, the Chiefs will figure out who they want to keep around whether it’s on the 53-man roster or on the practice squad and who they want to part ways with.

It’s not an easy task, but it’s something all 32 NFL teams have to do. Hopefully the Chiefs make the right decisions when push comes to shove.
