Who will get the start and majority of reps for the Wildcats in game one?

The answer to that question won’t be known until the first offensive snap of the game. Kansas State has always been a secretive ball club, and nothing appears to be changing.

The starter against South Dakota may be determined on the first play that is called. Skylar Thompson and Alex Delton have both looked good this offseason, as well as last season when they both got valuable playing time.

There is not even a suggestion as to who might start the season for coach Snyder, so this definitely qualifies as something to keep an eye on.

Skylar Thompson finished last season completing 51 of 83 passes for 689 yards and five touchdowns.

Alex Delton completed 49 of 85 passes for 637 yards and three touchdowns in 2017.

The difference between the two is on the ground. In 2017, Delton finished second on the team in rushing with 100 attempts for 500 yards and eight touchdowns.

Thompson ran the ball 69 times for 267 yards and three touchdowns.

Delton has a clear advantage when it comes to running the ball. However, the coaches must believe that Thompson is the better passer, causing this split between the two at the position.

It will be interesting to see how both these quarterbacks fair. Keep an eye on when these two are being used, it will be telling as the Wildcats move forward with the season.
