The Chiefs will be throwing all over the field

In 2017, Chiefs fans witnessed what Alex Smith was capable of during his exit interview. Smith threw the ball hard and far, proving doubters wrong as he connected beautifully with Tyreek Hill.

What does that mean for 2018? The Chiefs will miss Smith’s football smarts and the good decisions he constantly made. They will welcome the gunslinger in Patrick Mahomes though. Mahomes can probably throw deeper than any other quarterback in the league. Mahomes can do a lot that other quarterbacks can’t do.

More from KC Kingdom

If Smith was able to have the numbers he did without being a deep threat quarterback, there should be no issues with Mahomes putting up the same or better. He can throw deep, throw accurate, and he’s very mobile.

Mahomes is willing to do whatever it takes to win, and that will be something new for Chiefs fans. The targets he has to throw to can’t get much better than it is. The leagues strongest arm combined with the leagues fastest receiver, Tyreek Hill, will be a highlight reel for the ages. The Chiefs added Sammy Watkins in the offseason to provide a solid No.2 receiver for Mahomes, which will become a major help to the Chiefs redzone offense.

Travis Kelce happens to be the best tight end in football right now, who also happens to have impressive downfield speed. The targets don’t stop there, Kareem Hunt, Spencer Ware, and Charcandrick West are all capable of catching the ball out of the backfield.

Chris Conley will be healthy again, and young guys like Demarcus Robinson and Gehrig Dieter have been by Mahomes side since he got to Kansas City. If you aren’t still sure if Kansas City will win the division, read this slide one more time. This offense will score points, lots and lots of points.
