Nebraska football has had lots of great running backs over their storied history, but Mike Rozier still sits as the all-time leader in rushing yards with 4,780.

It’ll be a long time before someone can dethrone Rozier, but a lot of that is due to how much the sport has changed since the 1980s. Now teams rely heavily on the passing game and running backs, while still important, aren’t as dominant as they once were.

Part of why Nebraska was so incredible during their time at the top was due to their stout run game. The Huskers always had one of the best running backs in the game and usually their quarterbacks were mobile as well.

On this list, we had mostly running backs, which makes sense considering it was a rushing yards list, but two quarterbacks made appearances. They were Eric Crouch and Taylor Martinez, two top notch quarterbacks from two very different eras of Nebraska football.

The Cornhuskers just outside the top 15 of this list were Jammal Lord, Correll Buckhalter, Keith Jones, Tony Davis, and Dan Alexander. All of those were running backs except for Lord, who was also a wizard running the ball.

Looking back at all of these great names gets me fired up for the next era of Nebraska football and what it has in store for us. Hopefully a new player will emerge as the next dominant rusher and maybe he’ll crack his way onto this list here soon.
