Sporting Kansas City has disappointed in the playoffs recently, but a new era of KC soccer could be upon us soon.

Matt Besler, Graham Zusi, and Roger Espinoza are three guys who will be hitting free agency and that would really suck to watch all three of them move on. Hey, sounds like what the Kansas City Royals just went through in 2017! Why is all of this happening at once?

More from KC Kingdom

I have high hopes for Sporting KC in 2018 and really think this will be the year in which they will host a playoff game. It’d be great to not be one and done in the playoffs for the fifth straight season and to get back to being an MLS Cup Champion again.

With this potentially being the last ride for some of these guys in SKC jerseys, a championship isn’t too much to ask for. Sporting will have some young talent coming through the system soon, but we don’t know anything about them yet.

For the time being, Besler, Zusi, Espinoza, and other guys like Fernandes, Ike Opara, and Felipe Gutierrez are players who need to step up this year too. Oh, and obviously we can’t forget about Tim Melia and newbie Eric Dick, the team’s 23-year old goalie.
