Trying to choose just 30 Kansas City Chiefs players for this list was like loading up a small plate at an all-you-can-eat buffet stocked with all your favorite foods. It was not an easy task.
KC Kingdom editor Leigh Oleszczak, along with former editors Zach Blochlinger, Alec Tilson and contributor Joel Wagler compiled this list of the greatest Chiefs ever. One parameter strictly adhered to was that to qualify for this list players had to be a Kansas City Chief for at least five seasons. So, you won’t see the likes of Joe Montana, Willie Roaf, or Jared Allen on this list, though they significantly contributed to the history of this franchise.
The KC Chiefs have great players from every decade of their existence. The Chiefs played a significant role in the AFL gaining an equal ground with the NFL, which led the eventual merging of the two leagues.
Though it has been nearly fifty years since the KC Chiefs have participated in a Super Bowl, they still have had plenty of great players, including some who are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
