Kansas City Chiefs news revolves around Albert Wilson and other free agents the Chiefs could possibly keep or add to their ranks this year.

Who would have thought this time last year that Kansas City Chiefs fans would be clamoring for the team to re-sign Albert Wilson after the 2017 season? He had never appeared to be more than a number three receiver option at best, but he really came into his own this past season, hauling in 42 receptions for 554 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games.

Wilson missed three games and when he was out, it was noticeable for sure. He became one of Alex Smith‘s favorite weapons and looked to already be one of Patrick Mahomes‘ favorite targets after grabbing ten catches for 147 yards in their one game together last season.

The (former) Chiefs receiver appeared on SiriusXM’s NFL Radio and said that the Chiefs know what he’s capable of. He feels like he showed what he could do on the gridiron last year and isn’t certain what the Chiefs’ plans are as far as retaining him go.

Wilson is just one of the many free agents out there this offseason. The Chiefs are also losing Zach Fulton to free agency and he’s someone who has provided a lot for them over the years.

Drafted in the sixth round in 2014, Fulton became the “swing man” along the offensive line. In fact, when he had to take over for Mitch Morse at center, the Chiefs line almost played better at times. Will Fulton be someone the team decides to re-ink?

"It makes sense to bring [Wilson] back on a small contract, but if they decide to move on from the young receiver, here are some possibilities to take over the slot position through free agency that wouldn’t break the bank."

"As was just stated Fulton knows how to play left guard and center, the major difference here is what position he wants to be paid as."

    * INDICATES THAT THE ARTICLE IS A FEW WEEKS OLD

While I only touched on two free agents that were formerly with the Chiefs, there are plenty of other options out there for the team to pursue. Josh Sitton was recently released from Chicago, Doug Martin was cut from Tampa Bay, and even someone like Sheldon Richardson could be on the market.

I’m not saying any of those three will be coming to Kansas City next year, but it should be a free agency season ripe with talented players. Oh, not to mention Dontari Poe is going to be a free agent again in 2018 after signing just a one-year deal with Atlanta prior to the 2017 season… Could he be coming back to the team that drafted him?

We all know the KC Chiefs are going to focus more on defense in the draft, but we’re uncertain as to what their free agency plans consist of just yet. Only a few more weeks until we find out!
