KC Chiefs: Enough is enough, Marcus Peters isn’t going anywhere
By Chris Taylor
One article. That’s all it took for media and fans alike to lose their heads. The notion that the KC Chiefs would even think of trading Peters is bogus.
Fake news reaches every corner of our great nation and as many are able to label it as so, it still takes hold of a select few. The Kansas City Chiefs are no different. In a recent article written by a man who won’t be named here due to the fact he gets paid more than myself, the idea that the Chiefs were loading up at the cornerback position to eventually trade Marcus Peters hit the web.
The traction this piece got truly surprised me. It has become the biggest non-story I remember in recent Chiefs history. I can no longer contain myself.
There is no legit reason to even believe that this could happen. It’s called click bait, and the little fish are eating it up. It’s actually a smart move by the author, and the authors that have piggybacked the idea since. The lack of substance is abusive to fan psyche.

Marcus Peters is a bargain for Kansas City right now. They are literally paying him scraps right now. The kid is locked in for at least two more seasons, which means even if it was a thought to eventually ship him off, it wouldn’t happen in 2018.
In the case that you don’t already know, Peters is a premier corner in the league. Since he came in the league, nobody, nobody has had the type of production Peters has, it isn’t even close. No matter how you twist it, the Chiefs don’t get better by shipping Peters in 2018. No amount of draft picks in a reasonable universe would make up for the void that Peters ‘ absence would leave.
Brett Veach is doing his job. By doing his job there are some people who believe it means the end of Marcus in Kansas City. Both additions Veach has made for the secondary are meant to fill a need. By the way, neither player is better than Peters, although Fuller has the potential. If Peters gets moved then we have to ask what the most pressing need is once again. Once again, the biggest need is cornerback. Back to square one. Hard to imagine trading the highlight reel below away.
Marcus has a Hall of Fame career in his grasp and when it comes time to sign him for big money, he will be worth every penny.
It’s a shame the attention goes to his on-field antics, whether the fingers are pointing to his ejection, or failure to stand. Don’t deny the man the right to be applauded for coming back after his suspension and playing lights out while on good behavior.
Marcus Peters isn’t going anywhere because he is a pillar of this Kansas City Chiefs team. He is part of the sculpture that Veach is surrounding with quality players.
There is no good reason to trade the best corner in the league. No reason to think that Veach is going to strengthen this defense to just get rid of its number one play maker. None.
