Despite having ten picks in the 2017 NFL Draft, the KC Chiefs only wound up selecting six players. They made trades right and left to get players they really wanted on their roster.

Overall, I have high hopes for this draft, but none of us will really know how successful this draft was until we see Patrick Mahomes in action. The Red Raider will be sitting on the sidelines for 2017 and even 2018 while he learns from Alex Smith.

If Reid can coach Mahomes into the type of quarterback this team needs, then this draft will go down as arguably the best ever in Kansas City Chiefs history. I’m never going to fault a team for making big moves and locking down their guy, especially if they’re forced into that situation due to other teams being interested.

Had the Chiefs stayed put at pick 27, Mahomes very well could have gone 11th overall to the New Orleans Saints or to the Arizona Cardinals at 13th overall. The Texans were also interested, as indicated by their quick trade up to jump in front of Arizona and snag Deshaun Watson with the 12th pick.

The Chiefs were aggressive all draft long, and that’s why I’ll give them a solid B+ for this draft. They targeted players they really wanted and did just about everything possible to acquire them.

How would you grade the Chiefs’ picks in this draft?
