C. . Safety. USC. LEON MCQUAY III

I didn’t really have many thoughts about this pick other than that I hoped the team could utilize Leon McQuay III as a cornerback rather than a safety. Cornerback was a bigger need for Kansas City and safety really wasn’t a need at all.

With this being a sixth round pick, it’s hard to really critique it a ton, though the Chiefs have seen some success with sixth round selections in the past (Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Zach Fulton come to mind). It’d be great if KC could slot McQuay in as a cornerback, which might be the case if the Chiefs decided to grab him.

McQuay had a key interception in the exciting Rose Bowl game versus Penn State earlier this year and that’s definitely something that stands out to fans when researching his college days at Southern California.

I’m giving this an average grade, mainly because McQuay played safety in college. If he can successfully play corner in the NFL, I’ll gladly bump this grade up.
