The 2017 NFL Draft has some nice options at the wide receiver position. Could the KC Chiefs consider going after a receiver early on in the draft? If so, ArDarius Stewart out of Alabama could be someone that the Chiefs target.

The Kansas City Chiefs appear to be set at the wide receiver position for the 2017 season with Jeremy Maclin and Chris Conley as their two likely starters. With that said, however, Maclin struggled last season and Conley hasn’t quite gotten the hang of this NFL receiver thing yet.

That could be reason enough for the Chiefs to draft a receiver early in the 2017 NFL Draft. ArDarius Stewart likely wouldn’t be a first round selection, so the Chiefs could go after a bigger need in the first round and then grab Stewart with their second round selection or one of their two picks in round three.

During his three years at Alabama, ArDarius Stewart racked up 129 receptions for 1,713 yards and 12 touchdowns. Eight of those 12 touchdowns came this past season for the Crimson Tide.

Something that is a bit of a red flag for Stewart is that he missed three games during his junior year in 2016. Two of those missed games were due to a leg injury and another was for violating team rules, per NFL.com.

Wide receiver isn’t the biggest need for the KC Chiefs, but Stewart is the type of selection I could see them making. He could use a season or two in more of a backup role and then could be pushed into a starting role if Maclin and Conley continue to struggle.

More from KC Kingdom

Jon Dove of With the First Pick did a scouting report on ArDarius Stewart and noted that the former Roll Tide member was great as a receiver, but also as a blocker.

"He brings added value to the field thanks to his effort as a blocker. Stewart has delivered a lot of perfectly timed blocks throughout his college career. He is a real asset as a blocker and someone who will help spring big gains for other players."

Any time the Chiefs can get a receiver on the team who can contribute blocks here and there, that’s a win. Dove also thinks Stewart will be hearing his name called sometime in the third round, so if that’s the case, I’d say the Chiefs should be in the running to draft this kid.

Perhaps ArDarius Stewart could have benefited from another year at Alabama, but with two young children to support, he opted to enter the pros early, according to NFL.com. Who could blame him for that decision?

What do you think, Chiefs Kingdom? Would you want to see the Chiefs add a wide receiver early on in the 2017 NFL Draft?
