Royals Rumors: Jarrod Dyson Trade Talks Have Quieted Down
While there have been quite a few Royals rumors appearing recently, one that has seemingly died down is the one regarding outfielder and speedster Jarrod Dyson. Could Dyson end up being a Royal still when the 2017 season begins?

About a month ago, KC Royals fans couldn’t go anywhere on social media without seeing Jarrod Dyson‘s name linked to some sort of trade or mentioned with the Royals rumors. Would he become a member of the Oakland Athletics, the St. Louis Cardinals, or another team?
Now it appears that Dyson might be in the clear when it comes to being traded, which is a bit surprising to be honest.
With a cluttered outfield and needing other positions on the team, I’m a little surprised that with only two months to go until spring training, Dyson and Lorenzo Cain are both still on the team.
When I covered the A’s targeting Dyson for their team, I wrote,

"The KC Royals traded for Billy Burns during the deadline. While the move might have seemed minor at the time, it led many to assume that Burns would be the replacement for Dyson."
That still rings true. Billy Burns was brought to Kansas City because Dayton Moore obviously sees a use for him in the near future. Burns is essentially a younger version of Dyson and will likely be his successor once Dyson is traded or signs elsewhere.
With Jarrod Dyson offering some value to other teams, now is as good a time as any to trade him. I know it’s tough for the loyal Royals fans out there, but this is what good teams do to stay relevant and stay in contention.
Recently, the Royals have been in talks with the St. Louis Cardinals on a potential trade for their first baseman Matt Adams. Could this be a possible trade waiting in the works? It wouldn’t be too outrageous, as the Cardinals had expressed interest in trading for Dyson awhile back.

Just because the Jarrod Dyson trade talks have quieted down for the time being doesn’t necessarily mean that the speedster is safe. He very well could still be sent to another team in the coming weeks, and if the Kansas City Royals can get a decent player or maybe a prospect or two for him, then I’m all in for that deal.
Dyson offers great speed to the Royals, but they have several other guys who can fill that role. As I said above, this might be as good a time as any to try and get something for Jarrod Dyson.
