The KC Royals have made life difficult for the White Sox over the last few years. It’s hard to feel at all bad for the team from the South side of Chicago.

The KC Royals are 5-1 on the year against their division rivals the Chicago White Sox. Somehow, over the past couple of years it seems that the Sox have become the most hated division rival in spite of their struggles.

Dating back to the start of the 2013 season, the KC Royals hold a 40-23 advantage over the White Sox. That record includes the three-game sweep that took place this past weekend.

Every KC Royals win is a good one, but there is something especially sweet about beating up on the White Sox. They’ve always seemed to rub the Royals the wrong way. Their fans have even attacked the Royals’ coaches!

They made some progress when they sent Jeff Samardzija packing, but re-ignited a fire when they traded for Brett Lawrie. There may be no man more hated in the KC area than Brett Lawrie.

Last year there was this little incident between the White Sox and the Royals that had the Royals being called the ‘bad boys of baseball’.

More from KC Kingdom

It’s laughable that the Royals earned that nickname when the Blue Jays have a tendency for running their mouths at every pitcher that decides to throw them an inside pitch instead of pitching into their power. That’s a whole other story.

In spite of the fact that video replays showed Adam Eaton being the one who screamed something at Ventura first, it was the Royals who came away looking ugly. Yes, Ventura had problems last season, but he may have grown up.

Little was made of the fact that Chris Sale pursued Ventura in the locker room following the game. In spite of the fact that Samardzija and Sale went looking for trouble, remember when Lorenzo Cain got drilled by ‘The Shark’ following a Mike Moustakas home run, it was the Royals who took all the blame.

Then add on to all of it that Ed Farmer, a broadcaster for the White Sox, openly called for the Royals to get hit on the air.

So yes. All of these things have rubbed the Royals and their fans the wrong way over the years. It’s great to beat the White Sox. There is no team I enjoy seeing them beat more than the White Sox.

Seeing them come from behind in each of the past three wins was all the sweeter. They didn’t need to attack anyone. They didn’t talk trash. They beat the White Sox when the White Sox looked to put them away. Each time the Royals came back, and yes Ed…They celebrated the victory.

Watching the team celebrate their comebacks and enjoy the game of baseball is what makes them fun to watch. Bryce Harper want’s to ‘make baseball fun again’. Perhaps he hasn’t been paying attention to what the Royals have been doing for the past couple of years. Personally, It’s been a blast.
