KC Royals news fixates on hometown hero Alex Gordon being placed on the disabled list. He is slated to miss three to four weeks due to a fractured wrist.

On Sunday against the Chicago White Sox, Alex Gordon went to make a play on a foul ball and ended up colliding with Mike Moustakas. The collision didn’t look pretty and Gordon came out of the game not too long afterwards in a game where the Royals lost 3-2.

It was announced on Monday that the Kansas City Royals had placed Gordon on the disabled list due to a fractured wrist.

While it’s no secret that Alex Gordon had been struggling so far this season, he’s a leader for the Royals. He has been the heart and soul of the KC Royals for many years now and not having him on the diamond will certainly affect the boys in blue.

Last season, Gordon missed six to eight weeks after injuring his groin, but was back a month in advance for the playoffs. He went on to hit an incredible home run to tie things up in the ninth inning of Game 1 of the World Series.

Gordon was slashing .211/.319/.331 through 42 games. He was going through a pretty bad slump, but his defense was still pretty great. Plus, he’s Alex Gordon, a guy who this town adores. You can’t put a price on that.

The Kansas City Royals had seemingly turned things around as of lately. They won three straight series, including a huge one against the Chicago White Sox. The Royals haven’t been playing their “best” baseball, but they’re still pulling out victories.

If the KC Royals can continue winning series without Alex Gordon on board, this team could most certainly be in contention for yet another postseason appearance come October.
