KC Royals news consists of how well Edinson Volquez pitched on Monday evening and on Danny Duffy’s resurgence in the bullpen.

The Kansas City Royals have been struggling as of lately, but there’s no need to panic. Baseball is a long season and teams experience slumps all the time.

The Royals are in the midst of an early season struggle, failing to score runs and only winning one game on their latest road trip. It hasn’t been the most fun, but hey… This is virtually the same team that won the World Series six months ago. I think they’ll be okay.

Edinson Volquez had a nice outing on Monday evening against the Washington Nationals, but a rough first inning and the Royals offense struggling failed to get him out of a loss. He pitched 7.2 innings, struck out seven, and gave up two earned runs. He also threw 115 pitches.

Volquez has proven that he’s the ace of this ball club and hopefully his offense can start giving him some insurance runs… or any runs.

Also on the pitching staff is Danny Duffy, who has been impressive in these past few games.

With Luke Hochevar unavailable in Seattle on Sunday, Danny Duffy stepped onto the mound for Ian Kennedy, who left a bases loaded jam for Duffy. Duffy went on to get Dae-Ho Lee out in four pitches, Kyle Seager in three, and the final out was in thanks to Jarrod Dyson, who threw out Robinson Cano at home.

Duffy also came into the game on Monday in place of Volquez after his 7.2 inning performance and struck out Bryce Harper. Duffy has been clutch lately and perhaps moving him to the bullpen was the right game after all.

Despite the slumping from the Kansas City Royals, it’s still very early in the season. The offense is slumping, but they’ll come out of it.

It’s also worth noting that the Nationals are a very good baseball team. They’re 11 games over .500 and have one of the hottest lineups in all of baseball.

The Royals are also a very good baseball team and whatever slump they’re in, they’ll break out of it soon.
