Kansas City Chiefs Might Be Wearing Yellow Uniforms in 2016
By Joel Wagler
The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t significantly changed their uniform design and color schemes since the franchise’s infancy. Is this about to change?
The Kansas City Chiefs may be getting their first major uniform makeover in more than half a century.
The NFL is all about marketing, and the latest scheme to get fans to fork over their hard earned dollars is to have teams wear alternative uniforms, featuring made-for-HD color schemes. This is affectionally known as Color Rush. Who will forget those blinding uniforms the then St. Loius Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wore in one game season?

The KC Chiefs will evidently be wearing yellow as their Color Rush color at some point in the 2016 season. The primary color for each team may have been leaked on Twitter earlier in the week.
Yellow is probably the natural choice for the Chiefs. They have already gone with the red pants/red jerseys combination a few times in recent seasons. Yellow is part of their color scheme, and few colors can light up an HD screen like a blazing sun more than yellow.

Even if this leak turns out to be a prank, as CBS Sports suggests it might be, yellow is the natural choice for the Chiefs. What other color would make sense?
The Chiefs primary color has always been red, even back in their Dallas Texans days. There have been small alterations, such as piping and trim, but the basic design and color schemes have remained little changed through the years.
While traditionalists may scream in protest, a little change now and then isn’t a bad thing. While the Kansas City Chiefs uniforms are classic, they are also boring. They haven’t embraced much in the way of alternative looks, even for one game a year.
When they did the red on red pairing during a home game for the first time ever in 2013, that was about as exciting of a change as the Chiefs have ever experienced with their uniforms.

A year ago, Deeyung Entertainment designed alternative helmets for NFL and college teams for fun. His vision for the KC Chiefs was a nice yellow helmet with red trim.
To be honest, if the NFL comes up with something along these lines for a Color Rush helmet to go with yellow uniforms. It might be quite fun, for a game or two.
The Chiefs should stick with their classic uniforms for most of their games, but it would be fun to see some alternative threads now and then.

Whether this leak was real or not, yellow is probably the best choice for the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL’s Color Rush push. If it is just a game or two, it won’t be a bad thing. You just might have to adjust the brightness on your big screen!
