KC Chiefs News: No Monday Night Football
By Scott Dillon
Today’s KC Chiefs news is focused on the KC Chiefs and their lack of a Monday Night Football game. Is it really a slap in the face?
The KC Chiefs are the only playoff team from the 2015 season that does not have a game scheduled for a Monday night in 2016. Actually, they’re the only team with a winning record not to have a Monday night game.
There are six teams that don’t get to play in a Monday Night prime time football game this season. The Chargers, Browns, titans, Jaguars, and Dolphins are the other five teams who won’t be playing on a Monday night. The Dolphins lead that group with six wins.

The Chiefs do have three prime time games this season. Two of those games are on a Sunday night while the other one comes against the Raiders on a Thursday night. Luckily, the Chiefs are at home for that game as history doesn’t favor the team that travels on Thursday night games.
It is a little bit of a slap in the face for the Chiefs. There are four teams playing two games on Monday Nights this upcoming season that didn’t even make the playoffs last year. Is this just further punishment for how Jeremy Maclin was signed?

It’s not necessarily a bad thing that the Chiefs don’t have any Monday night games this season. They have a week five bye-week this year and will need all the rest they can get down the stretch. Not having to deal with short weeks may help quell some of that.

Out of curiosity I looked to see which bye weeks in a season lead to the most Super Bowl Wins. Going back to 2002, which is when the Texans entered the league, teams with a bye week in week ten have won four Super Bowls. Only one team with a bye in week five has won. That would appear to give the Bills, Lions, Colts, and Raiders a leg up if you believe in that sort of thing.
Well what do you think about the lack of a Monday Night Football game for the KC Chiefs this year? Is it actually a slap in the face? Do you really care one way or the other? Let me know your thoughts in the comments’ section below.
