How about a stat that all KC Royals’ fans can get behind? A .800 winning percentage.

If the Royals can continue on their winning pace from the early goings, they’re set to win 129.6 games this season. That means you can go ahead and round up to 130 due to some kind of miraculous Royals’ magic.

130 wins would best the 2001 Mariners and 1906 Cubs by a total of 14 games. Don’t expect that trend to continue, but it would be a fun season to watch.

Please don’t take these projected stats as anything more than a fun look at the early numbers on the year. Things are going to balance themselves out and again, if the Royals are scratching out wins with cold bats there isn’t much to be worried about.

Unlike football, the Royals have the luxury of dropping a game here or there. It’s when teams start to lose four or five games in a row that creates problems.

All of these players are going to settle in and get back to their game sooner or later. They’ve played more games the past two seasons than anyone and then spent the short off-season on World Series tours. The hope is they catch fire before the losses catch up with them. In the meantime, they’ll keep finding ways to win.
