KU Basketball news is all about how the Jayhawks cruised to yet another victory on Thursday night against Maryland. KU will now be facing Villanova in the Elite Eight on Saturday evening.

The Kansas Jayhawks earned yet another victory on Thursday against the Maryland Terrapins and will now be squaring off against Villanova in the Elite Eight. The Jayhawks defeated Maryland by a score of 79-63 and looked to be pretty comfortable throughout the game, despite falling behind early on.

This team has really dominated so far in this tournament, and have proven that they deserve to be a number one seed. The past few seasons have seen the Jayhawks exiting the tournament sooner than fans would have liked, but this year is continuing to be special.

Perry Ellis led the team in scoring on Thursday with 27 points, and Landen Lucas showed that he’s coming around on the court. He had 14 points of his own. Two other KU players put up double digit points, as Wayne Selden put up 19 and Frank Mason III had 11.

It’s the first time since 2012 that the Jayhawks will have made it to the Elite Eight and they just have three more victories until they’re tournament champs.

Their 16-point victory over a tough Maryland team should prove to everyone else that this KU basketball squad is for real, and are ready to bring home their first championship since 2008.

The Jayhawks still have a few more games to go before the National title game, and their opponents won’t be easy. Villanova put up 92 points against a tough Miami Hurricanes squad, Oregon is a proven number-one seed, and Oklahoma and KU have squared off twice already during the season, and one came down to multiple overtimes.
