A lot went into who made this list, trust me.

It really was tough deciding who to put at number one, as both Derrick Thomas and Tony Gonzalez are two of the best Chiefs players of all time. Ultimately, I went with Tony for the number one spot, as he is the best ever to play the tight end position in the NFL.

More from KC Kingdom

Thomas could have been a good number one choice though due to playing his entire career with the Chiefs. Gonzalez spent the last five of his with the Atlanta Falcons, which was painful to watch.

The rest of the guys on the list were the ones in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as well as the Chiefs Hall of Fame. Some of them were also guys who spent numerous years with the Chiefs, or even spent their entire careers in a Chiefs uniform.

Researching this list was fun because you forget how the AFL and NFL both used to have drafts. Did you know that Gale Sayers was actually drafted by the Chiefs? He was, back in 1965.

The Chiefs had an effective first round pick last year with Marcus Peters, and it’d be great if he could someday be on this list as well.

Continue to check out KC Kingdom, as we’ll be covering the 15 best picks from each round of the draft throughout the next few weeks.
