The Kansas City Chiefs like to have a good defense on the field. Could they be targeting yet another defensive stud in the 2016 NFL Draft?

It’s no secret that this year’s defensive draft class is stacked, especially when it comes to defensive ends. Kevin Dodd is just another powerful defensive end in the 2016 NFL Draft, and he very well could be the KC Chiefs’ first round pick.

Dodd, a junior out of Clemson, is 6’5″ and 277 pounds, making him a nightmare to block. With Lance Zierlein of NFL.com comparing him to Kony Ealy (formerly of Missouri), there’s a lot to like about this kid.

Dodd started in 15 games and had 12 and a half sacks during his final season with the Tigers. He’s a well coached individual and improved mightily between the 2014 and 2015 seasons with just three quarterback pressures to 46.

The Chiefs could land Kevin Dodd, as this is a heavy defensive draft class, and Dodd is only considered as the sixth best defensive end. The guys over at CBS Sports all have him lasting until pick 28 except for Will Brinson, who has the Oakland Raiders drafting him with the 14th overall pick.

Some of the negatives on Kevin Dodd are that he really only had one full year of experience with Clemson. He originally attended Hargrave Military Academy, and then wasn’t a full-time starter until this past season.

More from KC Kingdom

"The arrow is pointed up for Dodd who finished the season with a streak of five consecutive games with a sack. Dodd already looks the part of an NFL defensive end and his desire to make plays coupled with his physical traits and talent should have him shooting up draft boards. His lack of college snaps could preclude him from being “pro ready”, but his instincts and football intelligence should expedite the learning process.-Zierlein"

With so much defensive talent available in this year’s draft, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least bit if the Chiefs ended up with one of these defensive ends. They should, however, be focusing on drafting either a cornerback or an offensive guard, as those are the two areas that need attention.

If the Kansas City Chiefs did select Kevin Dodd, I wouldn’t be mad. He’s a talented young prospect and has shown a lot of potential in just a year. He really could be yet another deadly addition to this Chiefs defense.
