KC Chiefs News: Rod Streater and the New Chiefs
KC Chiefs news is about how this year’s Chiefs team will be different from past teams. The Chiefs also signed a new free agent on Saturday.
The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t suffer too much through free agency, but they did lose a few key players. Fortunately, the team was able to retain a lot of their star players and also have gone out and signed a few players from other teams.
On Saturday, the Chiefs added wide receiver depth when they signed former Oakland Raiders receiver Rod Streater to a one-year deal. Streater joins Mitchell Schwartz through free agency as guys acquired from other teams, and both should be able to contribute in 2016.
Streater had a nice year in 2013, but fell off a bit after an injury. He’s been signed to a one-year “prove it” deal and maybe the Chiefs can get some nice production out of the former Raider.
Schwartz is another new guy on the team and he should be able to make a huge impact along the offensive line. I can’t wait to see just how much he helps this team.

The new Chiefs portion in the title refers to the direction this team is going in. They’re no longer the team that is going to sit back and go 8-8 in 2016. They’re ready to contend for a Super Bowl after finally winning a playoff game last year, and now this team knows they can compete. They’re ready to make it further in the postseason and go all the way.

"The signing of Streater shouldn’t keep the Chiefs from checking out other free agents. It won’t keep them from considering a wideout in the draft. If their man is there, on the board or the open market, they should take him. Because Streater is not an answer."
