The KU Basketball team will square off against the Mountaineers for the Big 12 Championship tonight. Hopefully, the excitement will continue.

The KU basketball team will face the West Virginia Mountaineers later tonight looking to completely lock up the Big 12 Championship. They already own the regular season share and will try to capture the tournament trophy tonight also. It would be a nice feather in their cap as March Madness approaches.

The Kansas Jayhawks turned a big lead into a close game by the end of regulation against the Baylor Bears. What had been a 16 point lead with two minutes left in the game, shrunk to just a four point victory. But a win is a win, and they’ve moved on to the next step.

Wayne Selden Jr made a statement when he through down a monster dunk that posterized Ishmail Wainright of the Baylor Bears. His uncle’s reaction to the dunk may have been more impressive than the dunk itself. See video of the dunk with further game breakdown here.

The KU basketball team has had mixed results when playing the Mountaineers this season. They lost by 11 points to the Mountaineers on the road in the first match-up. When West Virginia traveled to Lawrence, it was the Jayhawks who would win by ten points.

The Jayhawks came very close to playing the Oklahoma Sooners in tonight’s game. In fact, they were less than one second away from that happening.

Buddy Hield appeared to hit a buzzer-beating, half-court, three-pointer to win the game for the Sooners. As he was marching up into the stands in celebration, the referees were taking a closer look. The ball left Hield’s hand just a moment too late, and the basket was ruled no good.

Whether or not the shot was good is irrelevant. It still made for some exciting basketball.

The Kansas Jayhawks have a great shot at winning the Big 12 Tournament Championship tonight as they get ready for the NCAA Tournament. Winning would almost certainly guarantee them a spot as a number one seed. While KU fans are rooting for a win, basketball fans are probably hoping for more late game theatrics.
