That concludes KC Kingdom’s first mock draft of the season. The Kansas City Chiefs selected four offensive players and four defensive players.

Now the biggest question lingering out there is probably ‘Why no offensive linemen?’. It’s true that the Chiefs desperately need guys along the line and it was an area I wanted to build on in this draft, but unfortunately, there was never a good time to select one.

I went best available in the first five rounds and those picks were all positions that the team could use an upgrade at. Also, the Chiefs could sign some decent free agent offensive linemen, in which case the need for drafting one wouldn’t be as prominent.

Some of these picks might seem a little out there. Why would the Chiefs draft a quarterback? Why so many defensive players? Why, why, why?

Well, the Chiefs have two other guys at quarterback behind Smith, and neither has taken a snap in a regular season game yet. So many defensive players were selected due to the impending free agency to so many key players on the Chiefs’ roster.

Draft season is the best season in football because it brings new talent to our favorite NFL teams and gets us excited for the future. Hopefully, the Kansas City Chiefs do as well in this year’s draft as they did in last year’s by getting guys who are ready to jump in and make an impact right away.
