KU Basketball is still in the early part of their Big 12 Conference schedule this season and travel to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers on Tuesday.

KU Basketball is the top-ranked team in the nation at 14-1 (3-0 in conference play) and has their second road conference game today as they travel to take on West Virginia. The Kansas Jayhawks are coming off a ten-point road victory over the much-improved Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Frank Mason III and Perry Ellis led the way with 17 and 15 points respectively. Both also had double-doubles, adding ten rebounds each.

Currently, West Virginia is the #11 ranked team in the country and have one of the better players in the Big 12 in Devin Williams. He nearly averages a double-double and is a physically imposing presence down low to say the least. Perry Ellis should have his hands full with this matchup.

This is a big time early-season test for the Jayhawks, as this is one of the toughest road games they will have all year. West Virginia is classically a very intense defensive team under Bob Huggins, and it could cause some problems for KU Basketball like it has in the past. Other than Oklahoma later in the season, this could be the toughest matchup on the road all season.

After this game, the Jayhawks will get to take a breather from ranked teams and head back to Lawrence on Saturday to take on TCU before heading back out on the road to meet Oklahoma State and Texas next week.
