Hopefully the Gordon news was just the first domino to fall and Dayton Moore and company begin filling out the team.

More from Kansas City Royals

  • The Royals are most likely done seeking free agent outfield help.

They have players internally to fill that position in Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando. They also have intriguing names at Triple A in the likes of Brett Eibner and Jose Martinez. There has even been some discussion about moving Cheslor Cuthbert to the outfield, according to David Hill of Kings of Kauffman. (The last third baseman we moved to the outfield worked out pretty well I’d say)

Bottom line: The Kansas City Royals will most likely focus their free agent sights on starting pitching rather than outfielders. If a cheap outfielder exists later this off season Dayton Moore may pull the trigger, but it’s unlikely for right now.

Jon Heyman, a sports writer for CBS Sports and a ‘baseball insider’ for MLB Network, tweeted the following:

There are still a lot of quality free agent pitchers on the market. In response to Jon Heyman’s tweet regarding Ian Kennedy, I pose the question “Is Ian Kennedy a good fit?”
